The Weeknd Dominates 2023 Juno Awards Nominations

The 'Save Your Tears' crooner is up for six awards, including the coveted Artist of the Year title, followed by Avril Lavigne and Tate McRae with five each.

AceShowbiz - The Weeknd has the biggest chance to win at the Juno Awards of 2023. The nominations were announced on Tuesday, January 31, showing the Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter's domination with six nods.

The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, is up for Artist of the Year title and eyes the Fan Choice Award. He is also nominated in Songwriter of the Year category, Album of the Year and Pop Album of the Year for "Dawn FM" as well as Song of the Year for "Sacrifice".

Trailing behind The Weeknd are Avril Lavigne and Tate McRae with five each. Lavigne is pitted against The Weeknd in the Artist of the Year category as all three artists are vying for Fan Choice Award. McRae, meanwhile, faces against The Weeknd in songwriter category along with Faouzia, Tenille Townes and ToBi.

Shawn Mendes, The Reklaws, Banx & Ranx and Preston Pablo also bagged multiple nominations with three each. Mendes landed in Artist of the Year, Fan Choice Award and Recording Engineer of the Year categories.

The Reklaws is up for Group of the Year prize, while Banx & Ranx is among Breakthrough Group of the Year nominee. Preston Pablo is nominated for Breakthrough Artist of the Year along with Dax, Devon Cole, RealestK and Reve.

The 2023 Juno Awards will be held on March 13 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta. "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" actor Simu Liu will be hosting the event once again. The ceremony will be televised on CBC. Nickelback, Tate McRae, Tenille Townes, AP Dhillon and Reve have been tapped to perform.
