AceShowbiz - Jax Taylor, a prominent face on Bravo's "Vanderpump Rules", recently opened up about the pivotal moment he believes led to his departure from the show. In the latest episode of his "In The Mind of a Man" podcast, Taylor, 45, and executive producer Alex Baskin discussed what ultimately resulted in Taylor's exit from the series.
"I think my final demise - which put the nail in the coffin for me - is towards the end. Obviously everybody who's watched the show has always noticed that towards the end I would have a lot of diva moments where I'm like, 'I'm done, I'm moving to Florida,' " Taylor recalled.
He admitted that tensions were high, with frequent arguments and fighting being a common theme. He pinpointed a specific incident that he believes tipped the scales: a disagreement over filming locations.
"They wanted us to film at the beach, which was in Malibu. We all live in Hollywood. So I said that we can do the same scene at a park in West Hollywood. Like, why do we need to go to rush hour to get to Malibu to shoot a five-minute scene, which is going to take two hours to get there?" Taylor explained.
He acknowledged that he was "micromanaging" the production, refusing to comply with the location choice. "I was pulling a diva moment by saying, 'I'm not going to the beach. We could literally get the same exact conversation that we're trying to get at the park across the street,' " he confessed.
"They wanted us to go to the beach and help clean - which is fine - but I just was not f***ing doing it," Taylor continued, recognizing that his behavior warranted a "piece of humble pie."
While Taylor acknowledged his refusal to film, Baskin shed light on another critical aspect. According to Baskin, Taylor wasn't just refusing to go; he was also discouraging others.
"That's what it was. So because that's what got to us is you were being a pain in the a** about it and you were saying, 'I'm not going to go, this is so stupid.' Then you were texting other people," Baskin revealed. "So then of course, we saw those texts and were like, 'Can you believe Jax is sabotaging the production?' "
Taylor had been a staple of "Vanderpump Rules" since its inception in 2013 and stayed on until his unexpected exit with then-wife Brittany Cartwright in 2020. As the show moved on without him, Taylor's revelations provide insight into the challenges and complexities behind reality TV production.
