Known for his roles in 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' and 'Fantastic Beasts', the actor has disclosed that he declined an offer to portray Superman in the early 2000s.

AceShowbiz - Jude Law reveals that he declined an offer to portray Superman in the early 2000s. Speaking on "The Playlist" Podcast Network, Law explained his decision.
"It just felt like a step too far. I always resisted it because it just felt off," the actor shared/ He added that he played characters like Yon-Rogg and Dumbledore, but Superman felt like "a step too far" for him.

Law revealed that he was approached for the role in Brett Ratner's Superman project, "Flyby", but they lacked a script at the time. Despite being presented with the Superman suit, Law said, "I tried it on and looked in the mirror and part of me initially was like, 'Wow, this would be (amazing),' and then I just thought: 'No, you can't - you can't do this. You can't.' "

The film project ultimately collapsed, and "Superman Returns" was later released in 2006 with Brandon Routh as the Man of Steel.

Law's decision mirrored that of Matthew Bomer, who was also considered for the role in Ratner's film but believes he was passed over due to his sexual orientation, which was considered a potential liability in the industry at the time.

Interestingly, Law also expressed regret about his younger attempts to play against his looks, which he now sees as "saggy and balding."
