AceShowbiz - "Deadpool & Wolverine" has received approval for a simultaneous release in China. The new date marks the first "Deadpool" movie debut in the country alongside its U.S. rollout.

Disney announced the news on Marvel's Chinese social media accounts. Despite the adult nature of the "Deadpool" franchise, the film is expected to face "minimal cuts" for its China release. The cuts will primarily address violence, blood, gore, and language, but sources indicate that the movie's storytelling and spirit remain intact.

The original "Deadpool" (2016) was denied release in China due to its graphic content. "Deadpool 2" (2018) eventually made it to Chinese screens, but only after being re-edited into a holiday season PG-13 version called "Once Upon a Deadpool."

Disney has not yet disclosed whether further censorship changes will be made to "Deadpool & Wolverine" as part of its release agreement with China's Film Bureau.

The film's release is a test of the current state of the Marvel brand in China, the world's second-largest theatrical market. Marvel movies have struggled in recent years, with pandemic-era restrictions and suspected political issues affecting their distribution in the country.
