The comedian/actor questions why people jump to split speculation after his friend Ben moved out of his marital home and admits that he would be shocked if the rumors were true.

AceShowbiz - Ben Affleck's pal Jason Mewes has weighed in on rumors that the actor/filmmaker and his wife Jennifer Lopez may be heading for a split. The comedian, who attended the couple's wedding back in 2022, admitted that he would be shocked if the rumors were true.
"I don't know if that's true. I don't believe that," the podcaster said of the rumors when met by TMZ on Wednesday, May 22 in Los Angeles. Admitting that he doesn't talk to Ben that often and it's been a while since he last talked to the Oscar winner, the vocal half of the duo Jay and Silent Bob expressed some frustration over people immediately jumping to split speculation after it was revealed that Ben moved out of his marital movie.
Jason theorized that it could be simply living arrangement between the couple to accommodate their busy schedules. Noting that he and his wife have different lifestyles from the A-list couple, he shared that Ben might crave some peace and quiet to focus while filming for his new movie, while J.Lo might not be too keen on Ben's film collaborators coming and going at their home.
"Yes, I would," the 49-year-old said when asked if he would be shocked if the news were true. "And I'm being sappy but you, it didn't, it seems very genuine when you were there watching their interaction," he added of the couple's wedding. "It just seemed after 20 years and everything that's going on it seemed very sincere and real. So, I would be shocked. But again I don't know they live different lives than me."
Ben and Jen fueled the split rumors as they have been living apart. He has been living in a $100K-per-month rental mansion in Brentwood, just two blocks away from his ex-wife Jennifer Garner.
On Tuesday, he stepped out for a group dinner in Santa Monica while J.Lo attended the premiere of her new movie "Atlas" in Mexico. He was spotted wearing his wedding ring when leaving Giorgio Baldi. "He was in a great mood," a source tells PEOPLE of his outing. "He seemed very relaxed and happy. Everyone chatted and seemed to enjoy."
