The Bad Boy mogul has reportedly sent his keys to the New York City back to Mayor Eric Adams after the honor was rescinded following bombshell video of Cassie assault.

AceShowbiz - Sean "P. Diddy" Combs has allegedly returned his Key to the City of New York after a public fallout surrounding his violent behavior towards ex-partner Cassie. Mayor Eric Adams initiated this move, condemning Diddy's actions which were brought to light through a disturbing video and lawsuits filed against the artist.

This dramatic turn of events began when the Mayor's office confirmed that Combs returned the prestigious key on June 10, following letters sent by Adams on June 4. Mayor Adams, in his letter, expressed his dismay at the footage showing Combs assaulting Ventura in a Los Angeles hotel back in March 2016.

"Like many people, I was deeply disturbed by recent footage of Sean 'Diddy' Combs assaulting his then partner," the Mayor wrote. He further emphasized his support for survivors of domestic and gender-based violence, underscoring the city's commitment to their wellbeing.

Taking swift action, the Key to the City of New York committee recommended nullifying and rescinding Diddy's key. Mayor Adams accepted their recommendation and requested the immediate return of the key.

"The Key to the City of New York is presented to individuals whose service to the public and the common good rises to the highest level of achievement, and who act as a model for fellow and future New Yorkers," Adams explained. “After internal deliberations, the Key to the City of New York committee recommended nullifying and rescinding Mr. Combs' key."

The controversy didn't end there. A month after CNN aired the footage, Diddy's honorary doctorate from Howard University, awarded in 2014, was also rescinded.

Responding to the backlash, Diddy issued a heartfelt apology on Instagram. "It's so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that. I was f***ked up. I mean, I hit rock bottom - but I make no excuses," he admitted. Diddy stressed that his behavior was inexcusable, revealing that he had sought professional help and therapy and sought forgiveness from God.

"I take full responsibility for my actions in that video — disgusting. I was disgusted then when I did it. I'm disgusted now. I went out and sought professional help. I got into going to therapy, had to go into rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace," Diddy continued on Instagram. "But I'm committed to being a better man every day. I'm not asking for forgiveness. I'm truly sorry."

With these actions, the City of New York sends a strong message about its stance on domestic violence and accountability. It remains to be seen how Diddy will navigate his career and public image in the aftermath of this debacle.
