AceShowbiz - "The Voice" season 23 is getting closer to crowning its winner. Airing on Monday, May 22, the first part of season 23 finale saw the Top 5, Gina Miles, D.Smooth, NOIVAS, Sorelle and Grace West, performing two songs, a finale song and thank you song.

Kicking off the night was Grace from Team Blake Shelton. She opted to sing "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia". Coach Kelly Clarkson praised Grace for her performance and agreed with Blake's advice to go into the song with full voice. Blake also loved how Grace showed something that she hadn't been able to yet with the uptempo ballad.

D.Smooth from Team Kelly performed next, singing "My, My, My". Chance The Rapper dubbed the performance one of his favorites on the show due to the improvisation and the choreography. Kelly, meanwhile, said that D.Smooth is "already a star" because he knew how to interact with the band and the audience when he's performing.

Later, Team Chance's act Sorelle hit the stage to perform "Million Reasons" after they expressed their gratitude toward each other. Niall Horan loved the performance, calling it one of their best performances. Chance, meanwhile, raved about the harmonies that highlighted them individually.

Team Blake's second artist Noivas received a letter from his wife and kids before he offered his finale performance of "Cold". Kelly noted that Noivas did a great job with the song choice as his voice was suited to the country, soul and rock vibe of the track.

Team Niall's Gina was up next. For her finale song, she opted to belt out "Style" and she totally nailed it. Chance called it an amazing performance, adding that he's excited to see Gina with her original work after the show. Niall was also impressed by Gina whom he called a "superstar."

Grace later returned to the stage after reading her letter from her grandpa before performing "She's Got You". Niall said she saved her two best performances for the finale. Meanwhile, Blake said he thought everyone was doing really well, but then Grace came out with an "unbelievable" performance.

As for Noivas, he went with "Fly Away" for his uptempo performance because it's one he did with his band in college. Chance loved Noivas' great song choice and called him a star. Blake said that performance "started the finale."

Before viewers got to see more finale performances, Alex Newell took the stage for the first time to perform "Independently Owned" from the Tony nominated show "Shucked". Following it up, Lewis Capaldi performed his new song "Wish You the Best".

Later, D.Smooth received a letter from his little sister that explained how unexpected his turn to music was when he was already excelling at sports. He then belted out "What You Won't Do for Love", prompting Kelly to applaud D.Smooth for being an amazing writer, producer and singer.

Sorelle returned to the stage to sing "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" for their final finale song. Blake told the group that they always sound like a finished record despite performing live. Chance additionally said that he's proud of his team for their "pitch perfect" performance.

Rounding out the night, Gina performed "Nothing Compares 2 U" in honor of his dad. Niall loved her song choice as it created a special moment on the show and was memorable for everyone.

Season 23 winner will be announced in "The Voice" Finale Part 2 that will air on Tuesday, May 23.
