The Weeknd once again dominates Billboard Music Awards. After leading the list with a total of 16 nominations last year, the "Binding Lights" hitmaker becomes the top contender for the 2022 event as he scores 17 nods.
The Canadian crooner is up for Top Artist, Top Male Artist and Top Hot 100 Artist awards. In the first category, he will battle it out with his "You Right" collaborator Doja Cat, Drake, Olivia Rodrigo as well as Taylor Swift.
In addition, The Weeknd's collaboration with Ariana Grande "Save Your Tears (Remix)" is in the running for six categories. They include Top Hot 100 Song, Top Streaming Song and Top Collaboration among others.
Leading the female artists is Doja with 14 nominations. Aside from Top Artist, she will compete for Top Female Artist and Top Hot 11 Artist prizes. Her latest studio album "Planet Her" lands in two categories, while her Grammy-winning hit "Kiss Me More" featuring SZA is up for Top Collaboration, Top Hot 100 song and new Top Viral Song.
Trailing behind are Justin Bieber, Kanye West and Olivia Rodrigo, who earn 13 nominations each. Drake, on the other hand, is a finalist in 11 categories, followed by Dua Lipa and Ed Sheeran, who both nab nine nods.
The winners will be announced live from Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday May 15 at 8 P.M. ET/5 P.M. PT on NBC.
