
H.E.R. leads nominees in music department with six nods, while 'Insecure' and 'The Harder They Fall' scores 12 nominations apiece in TV and movie categories respectively.

AceShowbiz - The 2022 NAACP Image Awards has revealed the full list of its nomination. The annual awards show celebrates the achievement of people of color across television, music, literature, film as well as the promotion of social justice through their creative endeavors.
This year's nominees were announced during a special virtual event on the NAACP Instagram account. Actor and musician Kyla Pratt, "Black-ish" actor Marcus Scribner and singer/songwriter Tinashe hosted the event.
"We are thrilled to recognize this year's nominees, who have all brought dynamic, entertaining, and thought provoking content to our attention through their incredible work in film, television, music and more," said Karen Boykin-Towns, Image Awards Committee chairman.
BET president and CEO Scott Mills added, "The BET team is immensely proud to continue our partnership with the NAACP and the annual Image Awards, underpinning our longstanding legacy of celebrating black excellence. It is an extraordinary privilege to provide our unparalleled platforms to recognize the vast contributions of black creators, in a way that only BET and NAACP can."
"The Harder They Fall" leads the nominations in motion picture department, scoring 12 nods, including an outstanding motion picture nomination alongside "Judas and the Black Messiah", "King Richard", "Respect" and "The United State vs. Billie Holiday". The Netflix movie also earns a nomination for its ensemble as well as acting nominations for Jonathan Mayors, Idris Elba, Delroy Lindo, Regina King and Lakeith Stanfield.
Meanwhile, writer/director Jeymes Samuel nabbed three nods, including outstanding directing, writing and breakthrough creative. The star-studded movie's soundtrack is also up for an award.
As for "Insecure", the hit HBO comedy earns its creator and star Issa Rae two nominations. Yvonne Orji is nominated for outstanding actress category, while fellow cast members Jay Ellish and Kendrick Sampson nab outstanding actor and supporting actor nominations respectively. Natasha Rothwell and Amanda Seales are also recognized.
The comedy is additionally up for best comedy series award, joining other contenders such as "Black-ish", "Harlem", "Run the World" and "The Upshaws". Meanwhile, "9-1-1", "All American", "Godfather of Harlem", "Pose" and "Queen Sugar" are in the race for outstanding drama series award.
In the music department, H.E.R. leads with six nods. The "Back of My Mind" singer is nominated for Outstanding Female Artist and Outstanding Album for "Back of My Mind", Outstanding Gospel/Christian Song for "Hold Us Together (Hope Mix)", and Outstanding Soul/R&B Song for "Damage". Chloe Bailey, Drake, Jazmine Sullivan and Silk Sonic trailed closely behind with four nods apiece.
