AceShowbiz - Winners of the 2019 Teen Choice Awards in music category were announced during an outdoor live ceremony in Hermosa Beach, California on Sunday, August 11. Shawn Mendes and BTS (Bangtan Boys) were the ones who won big at the annual event, collecting three trophies each.
The Canadian heartthrob claimed the coveted Choice Male Artist and Choice Summer Male Artist after beating down other strong contenders such as Ed Sheeran, Lil Nas X and Post Malone. He additionally won Choice Summer Song for his mega hit duet with Camila Cabello, "Senorita".
Meanwhile, the K-Pop sensation brought home trophies for Choice International Artist and Choice Summer Tour for their recently wrapped "BTS World Tour Love Yourself: Speak Yourself Tour". In addition to that, their recent collaboration with Halsey, "Boy With Luv", earned the seven-piece group an award for Choice Collaboration.
Besides announcing the winners from each nominations, the event also gave out its first-ever Icon Award at this year's ceremony. The lucky star to win the honor was Taylor Swift, who accepted the accolade from her gal pal and soccer player, Alex Morgan. During her speech, the pop superstar expressed her gratitude to her fans as well as announced that she would be releasing the title track off her new album soon.
"I also just wanted to tell you, there's so much that I'm excited about coming up in the next 12 days until my album comes out," she said. "The album comes out on August 23, but I wanted to tell you guys tonight that on the 16th, on Friday, I have a new song called 'Lover' that is coming out, and I'm so excited. I love you."
