ABC's Fall 2026 schedule is here: High Potential postponed, The Rookie & Will Trent on hold, plus R.J. Decker returns Tuesdays after Dancing With the Stars.
- May 18, 2026
AceShowbiz - On Tuesday, ABC became the fourth major broadcast network to reveal its primetime schedule for the Fall 2026 TV season, following CBS, NBC, and Fox. Fans can now see which returning favorites are set to air, which new series will debut, and which shows have been postponed until midseason or beyond.
Among the most notable scheduling decisions, the drama High Potential has been postponed to 2027, joining other scripted series on hold such as The Rookie, its newly ordered spin-off The Rookie: North, and Will Trent. This marks a strategic shift in ABC’s lineup, as these titles await their midseason premieres.
Filling one of the vacated slots, the crime drama R.J. Decker will return for its second season this fall, airing Tuesdays at 10 p.m. right after Season 35 of the hit competition series Dancing With the Stars. This pairing aims to capture a strong viewership on Tuesday nights.
Additionally, the revival of the beloved medical comedy Scrubs is scheduled to air Wednesdays at 8 p.m., once again serving as the lead-in for the acclaimed comedy Abbott Elementary at 8:30 p.m. As a result, the new series Shifting Gears has been pushed back to 2027, joining other scripted titles on hold.
Unscripted series are also impacted, with new seasons of The Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise reserved for next year. ABC has already released its Summer 2026 schedule, so these popular reality shows will return after their summer runs.
The full weekly schedule for ABC’s Fall 2026 lineup is as follows:
Sunday: 7 p.m. America’s Funniest Home Videos, 8 p.m. The Wonderful World of Disney
Monday: 8 p.m. ESPN’s Monday Night Football
Tuesday: 8 p.m. Dancing With the Stars, 10 p.m. R.J. Decker
Wednesday: 8 p.m. Scrubs, 8:30 p.m. Abbott Elementary, 9 p.m. Celebrity Jeopardy!, 10 p.m. Shark Tank
Thursday: 8 p.m. 9-1-1, 9 p.m. 9-1-1: Nashville, 10 p.m. Grey’s Anatomy
Friday: 8 p.m. Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, 9 p.m. 20/20
Saturday: 7:30 p.m. College Football
Among the midseason holdovers, the scripted titles include High Potential, Shifting Gears, The Rookie, its spin-off The Rookie: North, and Will Trent. Notably, The Rookie: North follows Alex Holland (portrayed by Jay Ellis) as he embarks on his law enforcement career with the Pierce County Police Department after a traumatic home invasion sparks a new sense of purpose.
In the unscripted category, both The Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise are slated for midseason premieres, with exact fall premiere dates to be announced at a later time. ABC will also reveal additional midseason programming updates as the year progresses.
This strategic scheduling reflects ABC’s effort to balance returning favorites, fresh content, and carefully timed midseason launches to maximize audience engagement throughout the 2026-2027 TV season.
