AceShowbiz - Cameron Diaz has expressed her gratitude for her decade-long retirement from acting, but she's equally excited to be back in front of the camera.
Appearing on "The Graham Norton Show," Diaz, 52, shared her perspective on her extended break from Hollywood. "Oh my God, I loved it," she stated. "It was the best 10 years of my life. I was just free to be a mom, a wife, and live my life."
During her hiatus, Diaz focused on raising her children with husband Benji Madden. She welcomed daughter Raddix in 2019 and son Cardinal in 2024. She also mentioned that she had "stopped training" as an actress during her break.
"It made sense for my family," Diaz said about her initial retirement, adding that "people stopped asking" her for roles after some time.
However, Diaz eventually realized the privilege of entertaining people. "If I let this go, all this goodwill, the passion I have for making people smile, and the joy it brings them, I would be a fool," she exclaimed.
She marked return to acting with a reunion with new movie, "Back in Action", a reunion with her "Annie" co-star Jamie Foxx.
As for her future in the industry, Diaz is uncertain whether this comeback is permanent. "This is maybe the beginning, maybe I'll tiptoe in," she said. "We'll see. I'm grateful for it."
Cameron Diaz has joined the ranks of celebrities who have reversed their retirement decisions. Jim Carrey, who announced his retirement in 2022, later returned to reprise his role in "the Hedgehog 3."
Diaz has already booked her next projects including "Shrek 5" and "Outcome."
