AceShowbiz - During the Friday, October 25 episode of "The Drew Barrymore Show", Jenny Slate was caught off guard when Henry Winkler emerged from the audience disguised as a fan. Winkler, who portrayed Dr. Lu Saperstein on "Parks and Recreation", donned a flat cap and glasses to maintain his anonymity.
As host Drew Barrymore introduced a "Parks and Rec superfan" in the audience, Winkler stood up and announced, "I do, I do!" Slate gasped in recognition, exclaiming, "Oh my gosh, Henry!"
Winkler playfully asked, "I was just wondering: can I have some of that money back?" referencing Slate's character Mona-Lisa Saperstein's signature catchphrase. Slate gleefully responded, "No!"
Slate described her elation, saying, "I'm afraid to swear. Can I go over there?" Barrymore encouraged Winkler to join them on stage, and the two embraced warmly.
"Kiddo, I'm so happy to see you," Winkler said, holding onto Slate's hand. "I didn't know that people really get surprised on TV!" Slate remarked. "My heart is beating so fast and I love you so much."
Slate revealed that her last encounter with Winkler was at the Golden Globes, where his presence had calmed her amidst the chaos. "It was very nice," she said.
Winkler congratulated Slate on her book and wished them both well. After Winkler's departure, Slate thanked Barrymore for arranging the surprise. Barrymore praised Winkler's enthusiasm and kindness, calling him "such a good person."
Slate's character, Mona-Lisa, and her brother, Jean-Ralphio (Ben Schwartz), played by Winkler's children, debuted in "Parks and Rec" in season 5. While Jean-Ralphio was not present at the reunion, Winkler and Slate's interaction brought a touch of Pawnee nostalgia to the show.
