AceShowbiz - Actress Jenny Slate has spoken out in support of her "It Ends With Us" co-star Blake Lively, who filed a complaint against director Justin Baldoni and others alleging sexual harassment, retaliation, and a social media smear campaign.
Slate stated in a statement to Today.com, "As Blake's castmate and friend, I firmly support her as she takes action against those who allegedly planned and executed an attack on her reputation."
Lively's complaint, filed with California's Civil Rights Department, includes text messages and details graphic allegations of sexual harassment and other misconduct.
Slate's support joins a growing chorus of Hollywood celebrities and organizations, including Sony Pictures (the film's studio) and SAG-AFTRA, who have publicly backed Lively, and her "Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants" co-stars.
Following the allegations, Baldoni was dropped by his agency, WME, which also represents Lively's husband, Ryan Reynolds. Baldoni's lawyer denies any wrongdoing, but the situation appears to be escalating.
Backlash against Baldoni, who has positioned himself as a feminist ally, has intensified. The Vital Voices Global Partnership, a non-profit supporting women leaders, has rescinded an award from him. Liz Plank, his co-host on the podcast "Man Enough," also announced her resignation in light of the allegations.
Slate expressed admiration for Lively's courage and affirmed, "What has been revealed about the attack on Blake is deeply troubling and threatening. I commend my friend, I stand by her side, and I urge all those who care about justice to do the same."
