Despite the buzz surrounding Marvel Studios' 'Blade' reboot starring Mahershala Ali, the highly-anticipated film has faced numerous setbacks, including script rewrite.

AceShowbiz - Despite being announced over four years ago, Marvel Studios' "Blade" reboot has faced numerous production challenges. After several director and writer changes, shooting was expected to commence this fall, but a new roadblock has emerged.

According to Daniel Richtman, a new writer is being sought to give the script another major overhaul. However, the overall story has been finalized, and cameras are still expected to roll later this year in Mexico or Brazil.

A casting call has reportedly gone out for a male main villain, but no details about the character have been revealed. The project has faced setbacks, including a reported threat by star Mahershala Ali to leave due to script frustrations. Early drafts allegedly marginalized Ali's role in his own movie, but this has been disputed.

Ali has since expressed optimism about the project's direction and the involvement of director Yann Demange, who confirmed the film's R-rating. Demange has spoken positively about Blade's "ruthlessness" and "ferocity."

"Blade" is currently set for release on November 7, 2025.

Meanwhile, rumors have surfaced that Wesley Snipes, who portrayed Blade in the highly regarded 1998 film and its first sequel, may return in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to Richtman, Snipes has "already signed to do some stuff there."

Snipes has previously expressed openness to reprising the role, stating, "Never say never." However, he admitted that it seemed unlikely and had not been approached by Marvel Studios as of yet.
