HBO has also announced the premiere date for the highly-anticipated sophomore season of the hit teen series starring Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney and Alexa Demi among others.

AceShowbiz - It's good news for fans of "Euphoria". On Tuesday, November 23, HBO revealed the show's season 2 premiere date. Additionally, the network unleashed the first teaser for the upcoming season of the hit teen drama.

In the teaser, Zendaya Coleman's Rue Bennett can be seen reverting back to her old habits. The drug addict can be seen singing and dancing to Frank Sinatra's "Call Me Irresponsible" in her house.

The clip also glimpses cast members Sydney Sweeney's Cassie, Alexa Demi's Maddy and Barbie Ferreira's Kat. The show's newcomers including singer-songwriter Dominic Fike are also featured in the teaser.

"When you're younger, everything feels so permanent," Rue says, adding, "But as you get older, you begin to realize nothing is and everyone you love can drift away." Closing out the teaser, Rue's sister Gia (Storm Reid) asks Rue, "Rue, are you high?" Judging to the teaser, the sophomore season will seemingly sees Rue's struggles with addiction continuing.

The new season arrives two years after the first season ended. Through her performance as Rue on the show, Zendaya won the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series award at the 2020 Emmys. It made her the youngest to ever receive the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences honor.

"It's...I mean, beyond," Zendaya told Entertainment Tonight of her winning. "I don't even know how to describe how I feel right now. I'm incredibly grateful and honored. I mean, just to have my family here, and that love and that support in this room meant so much to me--to be able to share this moment with all of them. I'm just happy and grateful and just...a lot of emotions happening. You know, the stressful part is over."

Loosely based on the Israeli television miniseries of the same name, "Euphoria" is a group of high school students through their experiences of sex, drugs, friendships, love, identity and trauma. Directed by Sam Levinson, season 2 of "Euphoria" will premiere Sunday, January 9, 2022 at 9 P.M. on HBO.
