AceShowbiz - British actor Benedict Cumberbatch is in talks to develop a second season of his hit TV mini-series "Patrick Melrose".
The "Avengers: Endgame" star portrayed the titular character in the drug-fuelled black comedy, with each of its five episodes based on individual novels in author Edward St. Aubyn's semi-autobiographical franchise of the same name, about an "aristocratic and outrageously funny playboy".
Cumberbatch, who also served as an executive producer on the project, recently won the Best Actor prize at the 2019 British Academy Television Awards (BAFTAs) for his performance, while the show, adapted by David Nicholls, was also named Best Mini-Series.
As he accepted the honour at the London ceremony, Cumberbatch admitted he and the cast and crew were all keen to further explore Melrose's story, and now the creatives behind the show are in active discussions to bring the character back to TV for a new run of episodes, reports Deadline.com.
One idea revolves around developing a storyline based on Melrose 10 years after the season one finale, in which he buries his mother, according to producer Helen Flint, although a decision on the direction the new episodes should take has yet to be made.
"Patrick Melrose", which also featured Jennifer Jason Leigh and Hugo Weaving, premiered last year (2018).
Cumberbatch isn't the only actor to play Melrose onscreen - Jack Davenport portrayed him in 2012 film "Mother's Milk".
