AceShowbiz - Ryan Murphy has shared more details about his first Netflix series. The acclaimed TV producer has taken to his Instagram account to share a first look at its star Ben Platt, who will be taking on the titular character on "The Politician".

The creator of FX's "American Crime Story" treated his followers to an announcement poster of the upcoming dark comedy. In addition to giving the first sneak peek at Ben's Payton Hobart, the poster, which featured several campaign pins for Payton, revealed its star-studded cast members.

Joining the "Dear Evan Hanson" actor are Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Lange, Zoey Deutch, Lucy Boynton, Bob Balaban, David Corenswet and Julia Schlaepfer. Also featured on the series are Laura Dreyfuss, Theo Gemain and more.

Described as a one-hour comedy with social commentary, "The Politican" follows Payton, a wealthy student from Santa Barbara, California, who has known since age 7 that he wants to be president of the United States. However, to achieve the goal, he'll have to tackle the political minefield of Saint Sebastian High School.

To get elected student body president, secure a spot at Harvard and stay on his singular path to success, Payton will have to outsmart his ruthless classmates without sacrificing his own morality and carefully crafted image.

Netflix first announced "The Politician" in February 2018. It was initially reported that singer Barbra Streisand was in talks to join the series, but it appeared that the plan fell through as her name wasn't included in the poster.

"The Politician" hails from Fox 21 TV Studios following Ryan's overall deal at 20th Century Fox TV. The mastermind of "American Horror Story" will serve as writer, showrunner and executive producer. Joining him are frequent collaborators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, who are attached as writes and executive producers.

The show, which joins "Ratched" and "Hollywood" as one of the three Netflix shows coming from Ryan that people know so far, will premiere on September 27 on the streaming giant.
