AceShowbiz - Nominees for the upcoming BET Awards are unveiled. Chris Brown leads the pack with six and Nicki Minaj trails behind with five. Breezy is vying for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist and Minaj is competing for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist. They additionally cross paths in the battle for Best Collaboration, Video of the Year, and Viewers' Choice Award.
Beyonce Knowles follow with four and Lil Wayne with three. Other nominees include FKA twigs, Iggy Azalea, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, The Weeknd, Sam Smith, and three "Empire" cast members, Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Howard, and Jussie Smollett. Meanwhile, MLK flick "Selma" is among the contenders for Best Movie.
Azealia Banks who gets one nod in Best Female Hip-Hop Artist where she faces off Minaj is not thrilled with the nomination. "I really hate getting nominated for @bet awards. They're so bogus," she tweeted. "The female rap award at the bet awards goes to nicki every year, it's not even a real award anymore lol it's a bit of a running joke. They should just nominate nicki five times with five different wigs on and pick the best picture lol."
The winners will be announced at a live telecast at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on June 28. "This year's nominees showcase a diverse group of talent that includes longstanding entertainers, breakout performers, and outstanding athletes," said BET's president of programming Stephen Hill.
