The winner of "American Idol" season 1, Kelly Clarkson, is joining another singing competition, but not as a contestant. The "Mr. Know It All" songstress, along with 7 other renowned musicians, has signed up to serve as guest mentor in the upcoming season of "The Voice".

Clarkson is paired with Miranda Lambert to help regular coach Blake Shelton, who happens to be Lambert's husband, mentor his team members. Veteran singer Lionel Richie will join forces with Jewel Kilcher in sharing some tips to Christina Aguilera's team.

Babyface and Ne-Yo will provide support to Cee-Lo Green in nurturing some talents during the battle round. Meanwhile, Alanis Morissette and Robin Thicke will give advice to artists in Adam Levine's team.

"These renowned musicians will bring their unique and recognizable musical styles to the teams," Paul Telegdy, NBC's president, late night and alternative programming, said at TCA winter press tour in Pasadena. "They are well-respected singers whose invaluable experience will be a tremendous asset to Christina Aguilera, Cee-Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton's artists."

Also at the panel, Aguilera slammed today's record industry when comparing it to "The Voice". "[The Voice] really gives artists that aren't so mainstream or commercially approachable [a chance]," so the "You Lost Me" singer said. "It's about taking it back to the real heart of music. We all are [drawn to packages]. But then again there's that raw talent that draws you in."

Sounding off a similar opinion, Levine stated, "I trust the show more than I trust the record industry at this point." The Maroon 5 frontman additionally gushed about the reality show, "I'm really passionate about this show being a new avenue [for new artists]."

"The Voice" season 2 will premiere February 5 after the Super Bowl telecast.
