Jason Mantzoukas, born on December 18, 1972, is a uniquely intense and wildly unpredictable American actor, comedian, podcaster, and screenwriter who has carved out a distinctive niche in the entertainment industry. He is best known for his scene-stealing, high-energy comedic performances, most notably as the unhinged Rafi in the FX comedy series The League and as the menacing dictator Nadal in Sacha Baron Cohen's The Dictator (2012). A vital figure in the comedy podcasting world, Mantzoukas is also one of the three co-hosts of the immensely popular show How Did This Get Made?, alongside Paul Scheer and June Diane Raphael, where the trio humorously dissects terrible movies.

Mantzoukas began his career in the world of improv comedy, honing his skills at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City, which became the launching pad for his career. After early work as a writer, including a stint on the MTV series Human Giant, he transitioned into acting, quickly becoming a go-to character actor for roles that require a specific brand of chaotic, loud, and often aggressive humor. His breakthrough came with the role of Rafi on The League, a character whose bizarre and often sociopathic behavior made him a fan favorite despite being only a recurring part of the ensemble. This performance established Mantzoukas as a master of playing characters who are simultaneously terrifying and hilarious.

His film career has been eclectic, featuring appearances in comedies like Conception (2011), They Came Together (2014), and Sleeping with Other People (2015), as well as the indie road trip film The Long Dumb Road (2018). In a surprising and acclaimed turn, Mantzoukas appeared in the action blockbuster John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019), playing the Tick Tock Man, a role that allowed him to bring his signature intensity to a more serious, action-oriented setting. He has also become a key collaborator of television creator Michael Schur, appearing in recurring roles across four of Schur's series: the sleazy perfume magnate Dennis Feinstein in Parks and Recreation, the paranoid former detective Adrian Pimento in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, the eccentric geologist Derek Hoffstetler in The Good Place, and the Greek informant Apollo Lambrakis in A Man on the Inside (2024).

Beyond live-action roles, Mantzoukas has become a prolific voice actor, bringing his distinctive, gravelly voice to a wide range of animated characters. He voices the hormone monster Jay Bilzerian in the Netflix animated series Big Mouth, Alex Dorpenberger in the HBO Max series Close Enough, and the superhero Rex Splode in the Amazon Prime series Invincible. His other voice credits include The Gray One in HouseBroken, Chumsley in Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie, and Jankom Pog in the Paramount+ series Star Trek: Prodigy. In 2025, Mantzoukas further expanded his international reach by appearing as a contestant on the 19th series of the beloved British comedy game show Taskmaster, a testament to his status as a beloved figure in global comedy.
