AceShowbiz - Jane Fonda, the renowned actress and activist, has joined the documentary Steal This Story, Please! as an executive producer. The film centers on the life and work of veteran political journalist Amy Goodman, known for hosting the independent news program Democracy Now!
The documentary is directed by Carl Deal and Tia Lessin, with production credits that include Deal, Lessin, Karen Ranucci, Diana Cohn, and Caren Spruch. Alongside Fonda, the executive producing team features a diverse group including Rosario Dawson, Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine, Oscar nominee Julie Cohen, Dominique Bravo, Bill Haney, Jonathan Logan, Steve Silberstein, and Tony Tabatznik.
Steal This Story, Please! offers an in-depth look at Amy Goodman’s career as a fearless investigative journalist and the host of Democracy Now!, a daily independent global news broadcast co-anchored by Goodman and Juan González. The show boasts over 3.2 million subscribers on YouTube, reflecting its wide-reaching impact.
The documentary has toured numerous film festivals and earned multiple audience awards. After the New York premiere, Goodman and the filmmakers will support the theatrical release through appearances in several major cities including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Berkeley, Seattle, Portland, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Minneapolis, Houston, Denver, Boston, Philadelphia, and Milwaukee.
Jane Fonda has a longstanding commitment to political activism and press freedom. In October 2025, she relaunched the Committee for the First Amendment, a coalition of entertainment industry professionals dedicated to fighting government censorship and intimidation, particularly in response to threats from the administration of President Donald Trump. This coalition was originally founded by her father, Henry Fonda, in 1947, alongside other notable figures such as Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall.
