Labrinth, composer of Euphoria's iconic soundtrack, quits the show & music industry in a fiery social media post, blasting HBO and his record label.

AceShowbiz - Labrinth, the Emmy-winning British composer and artist behind the acclaimed HBO drama Euphoria, has issued a scathing denunciation of both the music industry and the show itself in a recent social media outburst.
The 37-year-old recording artist took to Instagram late Thursday to express his frustration, explicitly targeting his record label with the blunt statement, "IM DONE WITH THIS INDUSTRY. F--- COLUMBIA."
In the same post, Labrinth also condemned the HBO series created by Sam Levinson, known for starring Zendaya. He wrote, "DOUBLE F--- EUPHORIA. IM OUT. THANK YOU AND GOOD NIGHT X." This public declaration signals a sudden withdrawal from the project and the broader entertainment business.
Labrinth has been integral to Euphoria since its inception, composing the show's iconic soundtrack that has resonated deeply with its audience. He is a four-time Emmy nominee for his work on the series and won Outstanding Music and Lyrics in 2020 for the song "All for Us," featured in the season 1 finale.
Last year, it was announced that legendary composer Hans Zimmer would join Labrinth for the third season’s score. At the time, Labrinth expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Zimmer, calling him one of his heroes in film scoring and anticipating the synergy they would bring to the new season.
The composer’s recent social media post has drawn responses from colleagues and fans alike. Actress Natasha Lyonne responded simply with a heart emoji, while musicians like Skylar Grey urged him not to stop making music, emphasizing the world's need for his talent. Rapper Stefflon Don praised his craft, describing Labrinth as "beyond amaze balls."
Efforts to obtain statements from Columbia Records and HBO regarding Labrinth's dramatic exit have so far been unsuccessful, with representatives yet to comment on the situation.
Euphoria tells the story of Rue, a troubled teenager played by Zendaya, and explores themes of addiction, relationships, and trauma within a fictional California high school. Zendaya’s performance has garnered her two Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe, cementing the show’s cultural impact.
The series also features a talented ensemble cast, including Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, and Jacob Elordi. Season 3, highly anticipated by fans, is scheduled to premiere on HBO on April 12, more than four years after the season 2 finale in February 2022.
This upcoming season will also mark the return of late actor Eric Dane, who portrayed the closeted bisexual father of Elordi’s character. Dane’s scenes were filmed before his death in February due to ALS complications. HBO paid tribute to him, expressing sorrow over his passing and recognizing his contribution to all three seasons of the show.
Speaking with Extra in June, Dane revealed he had filmed just one day of scenes for the new season and remained optimistic about the reception, stating, "Yes, absolutely. I think there's still an appetite for that show out there. I think we'll be alright."
Labrinth's unexpected and fiery departure from the industry, combined with the imminent release of Euphoria’s third season, adds a new layer of intrigue and complexity around the series and its creative forces. Fans will be watching closely to see how this development impacts the beloved show’s future.
