The drama unfolding behind the scenes of new movie 'Angels in the Asylum' echoes its intense storyline as financial woes and unpaid crew wages bring production to a halting stop.

AceShowbiz - Minnie Driver has reportedly quit the £5million project "Angels in the Asylum" amidst claims of significant unpaid wages.
The film, which boasts an all-star cast including Simon Pegg, has found itself mired in chaos just 15 days into what was supposed to be a month-long shoot. Production has been suspended, and the crew, owed around £600,000, is understandably growing frustrated.
According to sources, patience is running thin, "They were told they would be paid. But this has gone on for weeks now and there is no pay."
Driver, along with approximately 70 crew members, has been affected by the payment issues. Simon Pegg, who is also an executive producer, is reportedly among those waiting for payment as well. With exorbitantly high production costs and unfulfilled financial promises, the situation is dire.
The film, inspired by a BBC exposé on women wrongly locked up at Long Grove Asylum in Surrey for being suspected typhoid carriers, was set to be the directorial debut of Rob Sorrenti.
Co-producer Heather Greenwood and Sorrenti have publicly lamented the downfall, "It was devastating when we were forced to halt filming due to our second round of financing failing to materialise."
"Since that time, we have been desperately trying to raise finance with the goal of addressing our outstanding obligations to both our cast and crew. We have also put some of our own funds into the project, but sadly, it hasn't been enough to rectify the situation."
Despite these hurdles, a representative for Parkland Pictures, the film's distributor, indicated that this setback won't spell the end for the highly anticipated project.
"This won't be the end of the road for Angels in the Asylum. It is an extremely good script/story, and everyone has worked very hard and is determined to find a way to complete the film with everyone paid."
While "Angels in the Asylum" is grounded for now, Minnie Driver has already moved on to another venture, joining James Nesbitt in Liverpool for Netflix's latest Harlan Coben series, "Run Away".
However, a source told The Sun that the actress hasn't entirely given up on the troubled project. She's still committed to her role, provided that the issues are solved.
