The ladies of 'The View' have rallied behind Travis Kelce after the Kansas City Chiefs tight end faced backlash regarding his comments on President Donald Trump attending the Super Bowl.

AceShowbiz - Travis Kelce, 35, found himself in hot water following remarks he made about Donald Trump's attendance at the upcoming Super Bowl LIX. During a press conference, Kelce said it was "a great honor, no matter who the president is."

He added, "I'm excited because it's the biggest game of my life, you know, and having the president there - it's the best country in the world, so it'll be pretty cool," prompting a wave of criticism including from Swift's fans, given Trump's past negative comments about the pop star following her endorsement of Kamala Harris.

However, Kelce found strong defenders among the cohosts on "The View". Alyssa Farah Griffin praised Kelce's response, describing it as "totally classy, a diplomatic answer."

She emphasized that for Kelce, the moment was not about Trump but about the honor of having the President of the United States at what's arguably the biggest game of his career. "The presidency is bigger than any one person... He'd say the same thing if it was Joe Biden, Barack Obama, or George Bush," Griffin stated.

Ana Navarro agreed, noting that if Kelce had chosen to criticize Trump, it wouldn't just have personal ramifications but could impact his entire team.

Sara Haines also backed Kelce, highlighting the context in which the question was asked. "He's dressed in his uniform: whenever you're in - whether it's your company, your brand, your team - you're representing more than yourself," Haines said. "And he made a point of saying, 'I love this country.' That was not: 'I'm a big fan, I love this person.' "

Sunny Hostin chimed in, reminding viewers of the sportsmanship that Kelce focused on the positive aspects of having the president attend the game. "We know his brother (Jason Kelce), they are a very loving family, they are very protective over their women," Hostin said.

As for Trump's derogatory tweets about Swift, she believed Kelce was well aware of them but chose diplomacy, "He was being a diplomat. And I think he did the right thing by not giving into this madness."

Moderator Whoopi Goldberg concluded the segment by applauding her cohosts for focusing on the bigger picture. "I like that we're not giving into the madness either. Because part of our job is not to feed that, because we want to help you not be like this," Goldberg said. "So, the kid did well, I think."

Super Bowl LIX, set to air live from the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9, will feature Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs facing off against the Philadelphia Eagles. If the Chiefs win, they will make history by becoming the first team to win the Super Bowl three consecutive years in a row.
