AceShowbiz - Carrie Underwood's performance of "America the Beautiful" at Donald Trump's inauguration was riddled with technical errors that forced her to perform a cappella. Despite quickly adapting to the situation, the singer was reportedly unhappy with the event.
Sources also noted that Underwood was accustomed to performing in massive venues with stages to herself, but the venue for the inauguration felt cramped and altered the acoustics. Additionally, the awkward pause caused by the technical difficulties added to her disappointment although she eventually regained her composure and completed the performance.
"Carrie was dissatisfied with her performance at the event, primarily due to the limited space she was given, which left her feeling cramped and uncomfortable," a source told Daily Mail.
The insider went on, "Her anxiety was high throughout the performance, and she felt that she was not afforded the same level of respect or admiration that previous performers, such as Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, had received."
While supporters praised Underwood for her resilience and ability to salvage the performance - with fellow country star Jason Aldean hailing her as a "pro," some others criticized her. Ariana Grande and Mandy Moore, for example, threw subtle shade by "liking" an Instagram post that mocked Underwood's Capitol performance.
Despite the technical difficulties, disappointment and criticism, Underwood is said to be proud of herself for handling the situation and "saving it from being a total disaster." Sources also denied the controversy surrounding her performance would affect her upcoming role as a judge on "American Idol."
Prior to the inauguration, Underwood said it was her honor at being asked to perform. "I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event," she said.
Underwood's political affiliation remains private, as revealed in a previous interview. "There is someone I do support, but I don't support publicly," she said in 2008. "I lose all respect for celebrities when they back a candidate. It's saying that the American public isn't smart enough to make their own decisions."
Carrie Underwood hasn't responded to the jab thrown at her by fellow stars, but she reportedly "doesn't care" about those negative comments.
