AceShowbiz - Mandy Moore is facing criticism after sharing a fundraiser to help her relatives recover from the recent devastating Los Angeles fires. The "This Is Us" actress took to Instagram to share the news that her brother-in-law and sister-in-law had lost their home in the Eaton Fire.
"Yesterday, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law Griff & Kit lost their home and everything they own in the Eaton Fire," she wrote. "With their first baby on the way in a matter of weeks, they need our support now more than ever."
Moore also revealed the devastating impact the fire had on her own life, stating, "I love you, Altadena. Grateful for my family and pets getting out last night before it was too late (and endless gratitude to friends for taking us in and bringing us clothes and blankets)."
She continued, "Honestly, I'm in shock and feeling numb for all so many have lost, including my family. My children's school is gone. Our favorite restaurants, leveled. So many friends and loved ones have lost everything too."
Moore also shared a fundraiser to help her in-laws get back on their feet. However, some critics argued the rich don't really need help, mentioning that, with the actress' $14 million net worth, she has more than enough to help them buy new house.
"People questioning whether we're helping out our own family or attributing some arbitrary amount of money google says someone has is NOT helpful or empathetic," Moore wrote in a subsequent Instagram post. "Of course we are. Our buddy Matt started this go fund me and i'm sharing because people have asked how they can help them. We just lost most of our life in a fire too."
She further emphasized her frustration with the negativity, stating, "Kindly F OFF," and adding, "no one is forcing you to do anything."
Despite the personal challenges she and her family are facing, Moore remains hopeful for the future of her community. "Our community is broken but we will be here to rebuild together," she wrote. "Sending love to all affected and on the front lines trying to get this under control."
