AceShowbiz - Jennie has launched a new single titled "Mantra" along with its accompanying music video. In the newly-released visuals, the member of the South Korean girl group BLACKPINK proudly shows off her dancing skills.
On Friday, October 11, the 28-year-old South Korean singer/rapper unleashed the official MV of her latest single via YouTube. The beginning of the 2-minute video features a young girl singing the lyrics of the track while stuck in traffic.
The footage goes on to show Jennie soaking up the sun in a portable pool, which is placed in the middle of the road. It can be seen that she is dipping her long legs in the water. Near her is a vintage yellow car that is parked right on the pool.
The short clip also includes a scene where Jennie dances with a group of female dancers. She stands on the road while being surrounded by the dancers. At one point, all of them start doing a complex choreography near a fancy gas station.
For the particular scene, Jennie opts to wear a brown-and-black outfit. She looks stunning in an asymmetrical brown bodysuit. Ditching her pants, she completes the look with a pair of high black boots, pearl-drop earrings, a black belt and matching bracelet. In addition, she styles her long blonde hair in a simple straight hairdo, parts it in the middle and tucks it behind her ears.
As she dances, Jennie raps, "This that pretty-girl mantra, this that flaunt ya, just touched down in L.A./ Pretty girls don't do drama 'less we wanna, it'll be depending on the day/ Pretty girls packed in a Defender, know I'ma defend her, never let her catch no stray/ This that pretty-girl mantra, she's that stunna, make you wanna swing both ways."
After dropping the music video, Jennie received positive comments from her listeners. One in particular gushed, "That is how Jennie showed that, she can ACTUALLY dance. Love this energy! Keep it up eonni!" Another chimed in, "That switch from soft voice to rap in deep voice was so smooth. Jennie's dance moves are so fire, she devoured this song, this concept suits her so well."
