Former Disney stars Raven-Symone and Danielle Fishel are set to step behind the lens for the upcoming Disney Channel reboot 'Wizards Beyond Waverly Place'

AceShowbiz - The beloved Disney Channel series "Wizards of Waverly Place" is getting a reboot, and two of the former Mouse House alum, Raven-Symone and Danielle Fishel, are helping in a surprising way: as directors.

The actresses, who previously starred in Disney's "That's So Raven" and "Girl Meets World" respectively, will step behind the camera for several episodes in the first season of the sequel series.

Titled "Wizards Beyond Waverly Place", the new show follows David Henrie's Justin Russo, who has opted for a mundane life with his family. However, when his sister Alex (Selena Gomez) brings a young wizard-in-training named Billie to Justin's doorstep, he must rediscover his magical abilities and guide her while balancing his everyday responsibilities.

While Gomez will not be a regular on the reboot, she is set to appear in the premiere episode as a guest star. She and Henrie join Jed Elinoff, Scott Thomas, Gary Marsh, and Jonas Agin as executive producers.

Henrie has expressed his excitement about reuniting with Gomez for the project. "It was awesome. We didn't want it to end. It was great," he said of filming with the "Only Murders in the Building" star again after over a decade. "She's so good. She has such a quick wit that's only gotten stronger."

The reboot will premiere on Disney Channel with the first two episodes on October 29. All eight episodes will then drop on Disney+ on October 30. Fans can expect some emotional moments in the first episode, according to Henrie.
