AceShowbiz - Selena Gomez and David Henrie return to their Disney Channel roots in the upcoming revival series "Wizards Beyond Waverly Place". In a behind-the-scenes look released by Disney, Gomez and Henrie reunite on set, reminiscing about where it all began with the original series.
The new show focuses on Henrie's character, Justin Russo, who has chosen to raise his family without magic. However, when Gomez's character, Alex, arrives with a young wizard named Billie, Justin must navigate the challenges of being a mentor while juggling his everyday life.
Gomez stars as a guest in the first episode, dropping Billie off with her brother, Justin. Billie, played by newcomer Janice LeAnn Brown, brings a rebellious and sarcastic energy to the family, forcing Justin to confront his own past as a wizard.
Henrie and Gomez both serve as executive producers on the new series. In the clip, they share an emotional hug and express their excitement to bring "Wizards" back to the screen. Henrie praised the talented young cast, who he believes capture the spirit of the original show.
The first look video also features clips from the upcoming series, showcasing Billie's magical abilities and the return of David DeLuise as the Russo's father, Jerry. Taylor Cora joins the cast as Winter, Billie's best friend.
"Wizards Beyond Waverly Place" is scheduled to premiere on Disney Channel and Disney+ later in 2024.
