During her interview with 'The Breakfast Club' podcast, the 'Sherri' host also talks about filling Wendy's shoes after she took over the latter's TV time slot with her own talk show.

AceShowbiz - Sherri Shepherd gives more insight into the current nature of her relationship with Wendy Williams. In a new interview, the "Sherri" host admitted that she hasn't been speaking to the former daytime queen after she took over her TV time slot with her own talk show.
In the Tuesday, January 24 episode of "The Breakfast Club" podcast show, Sherri was asked by hosts Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy whether she got a chance to speak to Wendy after "Sherri" replaced "The Wendy Williams Show" time slot following Wendy's months-long absence. "No," the former "The View" co-host confessed, before making light of the situation, "I didn't get a chance to talk to you [DJ Envy]. I didn't get a chance to talk to you, Charlamagne."
"So, no. There were certain people that I got a chance to talk to. It was Oprah Winfrey," Sherri further shared. The 55-year-old TV host/comedienne added that she didn't get a chance to talk to Whoopi Goldberg and Ellen DeGeneres either when she took over Wendy's TV time slot. "So it's very few people that I got to talk to," she stressed.
Elsewhere during the candid chat, Sherri talked about how people compared her to Wendy. Charlamagne asked her, "Did you feel like Wendy's shoes were too big to fill?" to which she replied, "Well, I think so." She later joked, "I think we didn't even wear the same size…shoes," prompting the podcast hosts burst into laughter.
Then Charlamagne wondered whether Sherri is "afraid" of filling Wendy's shoes. "No," Sherri confidently answered. "Because I think you start getting afraid when you start comparing yourself to other people. That's where you get into trouble," she explained.
Sherri noted that she had a similar approach over a decade ago when she made her appearance as the newest member of "The View" in 2007, following the departure of Star Jones. She remained a co-host until she left in 2014. Continuing her thoughts regarding making comparisons to others, she recalled, "I would have been terrified when I had to take over Star Jones' place on 'The View'. The one thing that I love is Star Jones called me, I was working on '30 Rock' at the time, and she called me to congratulate me and she says, 'Don't try to fill my shoes 'cause you'll never fill my shoes.' "
Sherri's talk show premiered in September 2022. A few months prior, Sherri began filling in for Wendy on "The Wendy Williams Show" amid Wendy's months-long absence due to her concerning health issues. As Wendy's long-running daytime talk series was taken off-air, "Sherri" took over its predecessor's previous time slot.
Earlier this month, Fox Television Stations announced that they'd be renewing "Sherri", taking the series from Lionsgate's Debmar-Mercury through the 2024-2025 season. The decision behind the long-term extension from its anchor station group was based on the show's first-season success. As it stands, "Sherri" is the No. 1 new nationally syndicated daytime talk show from Lionsgate's Debmar-Mercury.
In her statement, Sherri expressed her excitement as saying, "I am so thrilled that 'Sherri' has been renewed for two more years." She added, "I launched this show with the mission to give daytime viewers a 'good time,' just like my theme song says. I am so appreciative that Fox and Debmar-Mercury have partnered with me to continue bringing more laughter, joy and inspiration to my audience."
