In an Instagram post, the 'Hurricane' rapper states he refuses to do NFTs because he's 'not on that wave' right now, telling fans to stop asking him to do NFT.

AceShowbiz - Kanye West isn't game for NFTs. The "Donda" artist has given his two cents on the trend in digital trading after he seemingly got asked many times about when he will release his music as a non-fungible token.

Apparently getting fed up with the questions by fans, Ye took to his Instagram account on Monday, January 31 to tell them that he is not doing NFT, at least for now, because it's not real. "My focus is on building real products in the real world," he wrote on a piece of white paper which photo he shared on his feed. "Real food, real clothes, real shelter," he elaborated, before stressing, "Do not ask me to do a f**king NFT. Ask me later."

The Atlanta rapper reiterated his statement in the caption. He wrote in all caps, "STOP ASKING ME TO DO NFT's I'M NOT FINNA CO-SIGN … FOR NOW I'M NOT ON THAT WAVE I MAKE MUSIC AND PRODUCTS IN THE REAL WORLD."

NFTs are digital assets that represent ownership of things like art, music and in-game items, among many others, which are tracked and verified on a blockchain. As NFT sales grew in 2021, celebrities like Eminem, Justin Bieber, DJ Khaled, Post Malone, Steve Aoki, Paris Hilton and Tom Brady have dabbled in the business.

Eminem released his first NFT collection in the form of digital action figures based on characters in some of his best-known music videos last year. "I've been collecting since I was a kid, everything from comic books to baseball cards to toys, as well as every rap album on cassette I could get my hands on. Not much has changed for me as an adult…," he said at the time. "It's been a lot of fun coming up with ideas from my own collecting passion."

Later in the year, he went as far as investing in NFT start-up company MakersPlace last year. He and his manager Paul Rosenberg helped the company, which is based in San Francisco, California, raise $30 million in funding.
