AceShowbiz - "Spider-Man: No Way Home" has reclaimed the first place from "Scream" on the North American box office chart. After spending one weekend in second place, the Marvel film swung back to the first place in its sixth weekend in cinemas.

The superhero film, starring Tom Holland and Zendaya Coleman, topped the chart with an approximate $14.1 million. Globally, it's now grossed nearly $1.7 billion, passing the total earnings of both "Jurassic World" ($1.67 billion) and "The Lion King" ($1.66 billion). Domestically, its $721 million earnings make it the fourth biggest release ever.

Sony's comic book sequel also stole the first place back from "Scream", which fell about 59 percent, a typical drop for a horror film, in its second weekend with an estimated $12.4 million in ticket sales. So far, the Paramount film has grossed around $51.3 million in the United States and Canada and $33.6 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $84.9 million.

In the meantime, Universal and Illumination's "Sing 2" landed in third place in its fifth weekend, with approximately $5.7 million. The animated film, starring Bono, Halsey, Tori Kelly, Scarlett Johansson, Letitia Wright as well as Taron Egerton, has earned $241.2 million worldwide.

As for the newly released romance film "Redeeming Love", it earned an estimated $3.7 million during the weekend, which was enough to make it the fourth-highest-grossing movie of the weekend. The faith-based historical romance, which opened in 1,903 theaters, stars Abigail Cowen, Tom Lewis, Nina Dobrev and Logan Marshall-Green.

In this weekend's fifth place, Disney and 20th Century's "The King's Man" collected approximately $1.8 million from 3,260 locations in North America. The prequel in the "Kingsman" action franchise opened in December and has since grossed roughly $31.5 million domestically and $105.3 million worldwide.

Meanwhile, "The 355" takes the No. 6 spot after earning roughly $1.6 million with $11 million in total for the third weekend of release. Following behind at No. 7 was "American Underdog" with an approximate $1.2 million.

As for the newly released "The King's Daughter", the movie is at No. 8 with an estimated $750,000. "West Side Story", in the meantime, moves down to No. 9 with an approximate $689,000. Rounding out the Top 10 is "Licorice Pizza", which is at No. 10 with roughly $683,357.

As for this weekend's earnings, Paul Dergarabedian, the senior media analyst for Comscore, said, "This is a very slow weekend." Paul added, "January is typically not a big month for box office. It may be a while before we have another big breakout hit, but once we do the floodgates may open."
