AceShowbiz - Amazon has unearthed a slew of first-look photos of its upcoming psychological thriller "Homecoming". Starring Julia Roberts, the series is an adaptation of the podcast "Homecoming" and features the actress portraying a character named Heidi.

Coming via Entertainment Weekly, one of the photos sees Homecoming Transition Support Center caseworker in an office attire while being in what looks like an office. She has a big note which rests in her lap with a pen in one of her hands. Another photo, meanwhile, sees Julia's character gasping in surprise as she finds something shocking while rummaging her stuff.

The photos also feature Walter Cruz (Stephan James), one of the soldiers who seeks help at the Homecoming Traditional Support Center, a Geist Group facility helping soldiers transition back to civilian life. He can be seen sitting across Heidi as they seem to be having a serious conversation.

The last picture features Bobby Cannavale, who is tapped to play Colin, Heidi's boss. He is picture with EP and director Sam Esmail ("Mr. Robot") who is seen giving a direction.

The series follows Heidi who has started a new life, living with her mother (Sissy Spacek) and working as a small-town waitress. Later, a Department of Defense auditor (Shea Whigham) comes to her with questions about why she left the Homecoming facility. Heidi begins to realize that there's a whole other story behind the story she's been telling herself.

"To me, there's something about these old-school thrillers," Esmail, who helmed the first 10 episodes of "Homecoming", said. "I'm talking about the [Alfred] Hitchcock thrillers where it was just about people and not about CGI. It wasn't about spectacle, but about flawed people doing flawed things and going down a road you didn't think you were gonna go down, and being surprised at every turn. That is what we hope this show does."

Created by Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg and featuring the voices of Catherine Keener and Oscar Isaac, the podcast debuted in November 2016. It was well loved by many including Julia. "Julia sorta raised her hand," recalled Esmail. "We set a meeting, we talked, I fanboyed a little bit because I'm a huge Julia Roberts fan, and she came on board."

Also starring Jeremy Allen White, Alex Karpovsky, Dermot Mulroney, Hong Chau, and Sydney Poitier, "Homecoming" is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video this fall.
