Taking over the leading role on the Amazon psychological thriller, the 'Hidden Figures' actress will portray a woman floating in a canoe who has no memory of who she is or how she got there.

AceShowbiz - Singer and actress Janelle Monae will replace Julia Roberts in the upcoming season of acclaimed TV drama "Homecoming".

After winning praise for supporting roles in films like "Moonlight" and "Hidden Figures", Janelle is stepping into the spotlight as a cast lead, picking up where Oscar winner Julia left off.

In the second season of the Amazon psychological thriller, Monae portrays a woman floating in a canoe, who has no memory of her identity or how she ended up in the boat, according to Deadline.

Roberts had a one-year deal to act in the show and although her onscreen contract has ended, she will continue working on the project as an executive producer in season two.

A premiere date has yet to be announced for "Homecoming" season two.
