The first wave of nominations for the 2016 Teen Choice Awards has been announced. In TV categories, "Pretty Little Liars" leads with a total of six nods, including Choice TV Show: Drama. The Freeform series is competing against "Empire", "Gotham", "Grey's Anatomy", "Rosewood" and "Shades of Blue" in the category.
The show nabs three nominations in Choice TV Actor: Drama, pitting Ian Harding against his own co-stars Keegan Allen and Tyler Blackburn as well as "Empire" actors Jussie Smollett and Terrence Howard.
In Choice TV Actress: Drama, Ashley Benson and Troian Bellisario are up for the prize along with Taraji P. Henson of "Empire", Maia Mitchell of "The Fosters", Kerry Washington of "Scandal" and "Shades of Blue" lead Jennifer Lopez.
"The Vampire Diaries" trails behind "Liars" with five nods, leading the pack in Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre. It's vying for the Choice TV Show: Sci-Fi/Fantasy prize, up against fellow The CW shows "Arrow", "The Flash", "iZombie", "Supernatural" and "Once Upon a Time".
"Empire", "Gotham", "The Flash" and "Scream Queens" are among other TV shows which get multiple nominations.
Besides honoring fan favorites in TV field, the Teen Choice Awards will hand out prizes for fan choices in movie, music and other categories, such as Choice Female Hottie and Choice Male Hottie. Voting is now open on the TCA website. The winners will be announced at a star-studded event slated to air Sunday, July 31 at 8 P.M. live on FOX.
