AceShowbiz - The 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards has been wrapped up and "Orange Is the New Black" came out as a big winner in TV field. The Netflix hit series took home the first award presented at the Sunday, January 25 event, which was Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series.

Uzo Aduba won the prize, beating out Julie Bowen ("Modern Family"), Edie Falco ("Nurse Jackie"), Julia Louis-Dreyfus ("Veep") and Amy Poehler ("Parks and Recreation"). She held back tears as she thanked series creator Jenji Kohan and her co-stars on the comedy.

The show additionally won Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series over other strong contenders including "The Big Bang Theory", "Brooklyn Nine-Nine", "Modern Family" and "Veep".

The Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series title, meanwhile, went to "Shameless" star William H. Macy. He cracked a joke in his acceptance speech as saying, "I have written so many great acceptance speeches that I never got to give, but not tonight. To my fellow nominees...ah, forget it, you lost."

In drama categories, "House of Cards" star Kevin Spacey and "How to Get Away with Murder" lead actress Viola Davis were honored with Outstanding Performance by a Male and a Female Actor respectively. Spacey defeated the likes of Steve Buscemi ("Boardwalk Empire"), Peter Dinklage ("Game of Thrones") as well as "True Detective" stars Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey, while Davis won over Claire Danes ("Homeland"), Julianna Margulies ("The Good Wife"), Tatiana Maslany ("Orphan Black"), Maggie Smith ("Downton Abbey") and Robin Wright ("House of Cards").

Other winners at the prize-giving event were Mark Ruffalo (Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries), Frances McDormand (Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries), "Downton Abbey" cast (Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series) and "Game of Thrones" for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Comedy or Drama Series. "Modern Family", who led the nominees with four, had to come home empty handed.

The 2015 SAG Awards also presented trophies for the best movie actors. Meanwhile, Debbie Reynolds was honored with Life Achievement Award which was presented by her own daughter Carrie Fisher.
