Born on November 22, 1967, Mark Ruffalo began his career in the 1990s, appearing in many of Kenneth Lonergan's plays. One of the most notable was "This Is Our Youth", which earned him attention that he was then signed to star as the lead male in "You Can Count on Me" (2000). His performance was being noticed and praised, therefore he was granted major parts in such films as "XX/XY" (2002), "Windtalkers" (2002), and "In the Cut" (2003).

In the middle of his propelling acting career, in 2002 Ruffalo was diagnosed with a brain tumor. A surgery he had to remove the tumor, unfortunately, caused a period of partial facial paralysis. He managed to fully recover though and paved his way back into film business. He starred in four movies in 2004 alone; namely "We Don't Live Here Anymore", "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", "13 Going on 30" and "Collateral". In the following years, he appeared in high profile flicks, like "Just Like Heaven" (2005), "All the King's Men" (2006), "Zodiac" (2007), and "Reservation Road" (2007).

In 2010, Ruffalo starred as Paul in "The Kids Are All Right", for which he won Boston Society of Film Critics Award and New York Film Critics Circle Award in addition to earn multiple award nominations, one of which was Best Supporting Actor Oscar. His success didn't stop there as he next acted in "Shutter Island" (2010) which preceded his biggest role to date, that of Bruce Banner a.k.a. the Hulk in the 2012 blockbuster "The Avengers". He could next be seen reprising his role in its sequel "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015).

Ruffalo was a Kenosha, Wisconsin native. His birth name was Mark Alan Ruffalo. He's been married to his actress wife Sunrise Coigney since June 2000. They are parents to son Keen, born in 2001, and daughters Bella Noche, born in 2005, and Odette, born in 2007.
