"The Imitation Game", a true-story film starring Benedict Cumberbatch about the late British pioneering computer scientist, is up for Outstanding Film - Wide Release along with "Love Is Strange", "Pride", "The Skeleton Twins", and comedy "Tammy".
Off its Golden Globe wins, "Transparent" is nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series alongside FOX's "Brooklyn Nine-Nine", MTV's "Faking It", FOX's "Glee", HBO's "Looking", ABC's "Modern Family", Netflix's "Orange Is the New Black", Pivot's "Please Like Me", USA Network's "Sirens", and PBS' "Vicious".
Meanwhile, TeenNick's "Degrassi" is eying for Outstanding Drama Series, facing off ABC Family's "The Fosters", HBO's "Game of Thrones", ABC's "Grey's Anatomy", ABC's "How to Get Away With Murder", PBS' "Last Tango in Halifax", Showtime's "Masters of Sex", BBC America's "Orphan Black", ABC Family's "Pretty Little Liars", and Showtime's "Shameless".
Overall, ABC leads the broadcast networks with six nods and HBO tops a cable network with five nominations. On the music side, Sam Smith is pitted against Against Me!, Angel Haze, Mary Gauthier, and Mary Lambert for the title of Outstanding Music Artist.
"This year's nominees, including expanded categories in Outstanding Comedy and Drama Series, reflect the widening diversity of LGBT images and storylines that are closing the gap to full acceptance," said GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis.
The winners will be feted on March 21 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles and in New York on May 9 at the Waldorf Astoria New York.
