In the bittersweet dramedy Skeleton Twins, The, estranged twins Milo and Maggie are brought back together after a decade of silence by a shared, near-tragic event. Milo, a struggling actor in Los Angeles, and Maggie, a seemingly put-together wife in upstate New York, find themselves forced to confront the deep-seated unhappiness they have both been masking. As they awkwardly attempt to reconnect, the siblings discover that their superficial lives are crumbling in parallel, with Milo hiding his heartbreak and Maggie concealing a secret affair from her well-meaning but oblivious husband, played by Luke Wilson. Through a series of strained yet darkly funny reunions, including a memorable night of teenage nostalgia, they begin to realize that their bond might be the only thing capable of saving them from themselves. Directed by Craig Johnson, the film masterfully balances sharp comedic moments with poignant drama, powered by the extraordinary chemistry of real-life friends Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig. It is a raw, honest, and ultimately hopeful exploration of family, forgiveness, and the messy, difficult work of learning to live again.
