Perry goes theatrical during her performance of 'Wide Awake', while Clarkson pumps up the crowd with a mash-up of 'Dark Side' and 'Stronger'.

Katy Perry made a visually beautiful performance at the 2012 MuchMusic Awards. Standing on a tall platform on the stage which was arranged to look like a jungle, the California-born songstress belted out "Wide Awake" which was lifted off "Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection".

While the "I Kissed a Girl" hitmaker stood still on the center stage, two couples dressing in flesh-colored suit climbed fake trees on her right and left side. Later, she ditched her purple robe to reveal a nude body suit underneath, before a pair of gigantic butterfly wings spread from behind her back.

Unlike Perry who had an elaborate set and costume, Kelly Clarkson's performance was simpler. Donning a white and gold structured dress, the former "American Idol" winner brought audience on their feet with a mash-up of her singles "Dark Side" and "Stronger".

At this year's MMVAs, Perry brought home two kudos: International Video of the Year - Artist for her "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)" clip and UR Fave International Artist or Group. Justin Bieber also nabbed two gongs, while fellow Canadian artist Carly Rae Jepsen led the pack with three wins.

Bieber, Jepsen, Flo Rida and Nelly Furtado were among other musical performers at the Sunday, June 17 event, which was hosted by LMFAO. Selena Gomez, Lucy Hale, Cody Simpson, Chord Overstreet and Darren Criss supported the ceremony as presenters.
