Ruby's thrilled about spending the day with David, but she gets a surprise when he shows up with a journalist in tow. Seems David's idea of father-daughter quality time is being interviewed together for a story in North Florida Parent.
Ruby's totally disappointed, until David shares a beautiful memory about her mom. Unfortunately, it's totally fake. Ruby doesn't know what to do -- until Patrick and Audie explain that there's only one thing she can do. Get even.
So, when the journalist returns the next day to take pictures of the happy father and daughter, Ruby has a little surprise of her own. She shows up with two kids who also say David's their dad. It's a joke, of course, but David's not laughing.
Ruby tells him he hurt her feelings when he couldn't remember anything about her mom. Then David does something that's so totally David: He remembers what Ruby was wearing when they first met. Ruby's touched, and it turns out to be a great father-daughter day after all.
Meanwhile, Jordan's crush on Ruby reaches epic proportions. Ben points out that maybe Ruby's not their cousin after all, which would solve all of Jordan's problem. They decide to get Ruby and David's DNA tested, so they pluck a couple of hairs from Ruby's head and swipe David's chewing gum.
But then Jordan realizes that, if they find out Ruby really isn't David's daughter, she'll probably leave. And if they find out she really, truly is David's daughter, then... well, Jordan's still stuck with a totally impossible crush. Either way he loses, so Jordan dumps the samples in the trash.
Guess we'll never know for sure if David really is Ruby's dad. Or will we?
