The lease on Christine's Prius is up and she realizes her life hasn't changed in 5 years; when she tells her boyfriend Max that she needs to make a big change in her life, he proposes to her. She says no, she likes things the way they are. Unfortunately, Max's proposal has changed things, and they're no longer comfortable together. This makes her realize she needs to make changes in her life so she revisits the Prius dealership and she buys a new red Prius. Then she meets Max at their favorite restaurant and she proposes to him. He says no, because he wants to do the asking. Max proposes, Christine says yes and then they decide to tell no one, so things can go back to the way they were.
Also, Richard tells Matthew he's moving out of their apartment and back in with New Christine, leaving Matthew in need of a new roommate. A trail of weirdos apply and Richard thinks anyone of them would be fine, however, when a good candidate appears, Richard nixes him because he doesn't want Matthew to be happy. In the end, Matthew decides on a pretty girl named Heidi for his new roommate.
