Allison dreams about the serial killer, The Penny Jar Killer's, next victim, Gretchen Morgan, and his previous victim, Naomi Clarke, he hangs in Gretchen's house. When she and Scanlon go to her house, they find her alive and well. But when they find her dog dead, just like in Allison's dream, the cops come to help and process the scene. Allison waits outside and sees a man, Jeremy Keirnan, who has many of the same tools she saw in her dream that were used to kill and tie up the Penny Jar Killer's vicitm. She points Scanlon in his direction and a chase ensues ending with the guy getting hit by a car and dying. As a ghost, he insists to Allison that he's not the Penny Jar Killer and the only reason he was running was that he had a joint in his pocket. When the body of the Naomi Clarkedoes turn up like in her dream, Allison and Scanlon believe she was wrong about Jeremy being The Penny Jar Killer. She feels guilty about possibly being responsible for his death so when he comes to her and asks her to talk to his girlfriend for him, she reluctantly agrees to help when he offers to help her find the Penny Jar Killer. When she goes to the girlfriend, Mandy, to tell her what Jeremy said, Mandy slams the door in her face. Mandy finally comes around and is grateful for what Allison can do. But when Allison dreams how Mandy kidnapped Gretchen Morgan and kills her, she realizes that Jeremy and Mandy were partners as the Penny Jar Killer and he used her to get a message to Mandy to continue the work. Allison devises a plan and pretends that Jeremy has one last message for her - to befriend a specific young woman. who ends up being a plant to set Mandy up and catch her in the act. Allison dreams of Mandy's execution and reunion with Jeremy, who is none too happy with her gullibility and stupidity. Joe's boss asks him to read his novel and to get his honest feedback. When the novel turns out to be terrible and unreadable, Joe is forced to do just that and gets a bad performance review as a result.
