Philadelphia is known as "The City of Brotherly Love," but one restaurant, the Hot Potato Cafe, is tearing a family apart. Passion, motivation and spirit fueled the restaurant when it was founded two years ago, but all of these mandatory ingredients are now in short supply.
The Hot Potato Cafe, a family run restaurant in Philadelphia, PA is owned by three women; sisters Claire and Kathryn and sister-in-law Erin. Their goal was to open a sit down neighborhood friendly restaurant in Philly which is known more for it's take out style cheese-steak and pretzels. For some reason, they thought it would be a piece of cake to make it work. For the first year, business was pretty good and they were doing okay, but in the last six to ten months they have been on a steady decline. Claire, Kathryn and Erin all have other jobs because the restaurant is failing. They have gone through many cooks and chefs and it's hard to always be in the process of training someone new. They had to let go of their last chef ago for financial reasons. Right now, in the kitchen they have their niece Danielle running the show. At the age of 21, Danielle has potential but doesn't have the right tools or training to cook. Chef Ramsay is in disbelief at what he witnesses at the cafe, and once the poor attitudes of the owners are mixed in, Ramsay does something he has never done before.
Chef Ramsay will have to turn this once "spuddy" hell into a "spuddy" heaven if Hot Potato wants to make it in Philadelphia.
