Kath and Phil are excited to be finally applying for their marriage license. Only bad news is Kath finds out she and her ex-husband, Rusty, are still legally married. Kath can't believe the news, but Phil assures her everything will work out fine and they will be married soon, they just need to track down Rusty.
Kath, Kim, Phil and Craig head to Rusty's roller derby rink to get Kath her divorce. Rusty is in a bit of a jam himself because his best roller, Whitney, has quit. Rusty thinks Kim should replace her. Kath is against the idea of Kim playing roller derby, but Kim wants to join.
Kath begins to have second thoughts about Kim playing in the roller derby. She notices Kim's natural strength and is impressed. And if Kim joins Rusty's roller derby, he'll agree to sign Kath's divorce papers. It's a win-win situation.
Phil is determined to get Kath her divorce, but first he has to go through Kath and Rusty's records at the courthouse. Determined to not have to wait in line, he decides to camp out in his car outside the city building. During the night, Phil loses his belongings to a street thug.
At first, Craig loved the thought of Kim participating in roller derby, but has second thoughts when he is treated like a towel boy by the rest of the team. Rusty joins in and asks Craig to take care of cleaning the showers, as well.
Kim comes face-to-face with Rusty's best player, Whitney, who is now playing for the rival team. After a few words, the race is on and Kim starts out strong. Things take a sudden turn when Whitney pulls an illegal move, knocking Kim out of the rink. Rusty wants her back in the rink, but Kim refuses.
Kath steps up and finishes the game for Kim, and proceeds to take out Whitney a few times on the rink. Phil shows up disheveled from his rough night. He did not come up emptyhanded though, he was able to deliver some warrants he discovered at the courthouse to Rusty and blackmail him into signing the divorce papers. Finally, Kath and Phil are free to get married.
