AceShowbiz - Actor Charlie Sheen is facing a brief spell behind bars after striking a plea deal with prosecutors relating to an alleged altercation with his wife on Christmas Day, according to reports. The "Two and a Half Men" star was arrested in Aspen, Colorado following a bust-up with Brooke Mueller in which he is accused of threatening her with a knife.

He entered a not guilty plea to third-degree assault, menacing, and criminal mischief earlier this year and a trial date was set for July, with a pre-trial hearing scheduled for June 18. But Sheen's lawyers are said to have been negotiating with prosecutors to secure Sheen minimal prison time in exchange for changing his plea to guilty.

The actor will admit to a misdemeanor charge stemming from the fight and in return, the felony menacing charge will be dropped, reports UsMagazine.com. A new court date has been set for June 7, when the plea deal will be made official.

Sheen has been ordered to attend the hearing to enter his plea, which is expected to land him up to 45 days behind bars in Aspen's Pitkin County Jail. Confirming the court date, Sheen's attorney Richard Cummins says, "(The hearing was set) in contemplation of a final disposition being made that's acceptable to the district attorney's office."
