AceShowbiz - Tupac will be a playable character in Sega’s upcoming game Stranger Than Heaven, announced by Snoop Dogg at Summer Game Fest 2026 on June 5. The late rapper’s inclusion adds a historic and cultural layer to the action-adventure title set to launch early next year.
In the game, Tupac appears as Amaru, his middle name, a character designed with the full cooperation of his estate, Amaru Entertainment. Stranger Than Heaven spans fifty years and five cities, exploring various eras of modern Japan through an evolving narrative. The game is scheduled for release on January 15, 2027, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms.
Snoop Dogg revealed that he worked closely with Tupac’s estate and his own son, Cordell Broadus—also a playable character in the game—to ensure Tupac’s likeness and spirit were authentically represented. The design team at RGG Studio, known for the Yakuza and Like a Dragon series, avoided using AI technology, instead relying on archival footage and photographs for an accurate portrayal. Snoop Dogg also shares the game spotlight as a new character named Orpheus.
Snoop Dogg is well known for his groundbreaking 1993 album Doggystyle and has built a diverse career as both rapper and actor, with numerous film roles including appearances in Ride and The Wrecking Crew. His participation in Stranger Than Heaven continues his long-standing involvement in entertainment beyond music, blending his artistic legacy with interactive media.
The inclusion of Tupac as Amaru not only honors his enduring cultural impact nearly three decades after his death but also bridges music and gaming in a fresh, respectful way. Stranger Than Heaven’s historical narrative and high-profile cast, including Snoop Dogg and other notable artists, signal a unique evolution for video game storytelling and representation.
