AceShowbiz - Disney has unveiled the first look and confirmed the release date for the fifth installment in the Descendants franchise, titled Descendants: Wicked Wonderland. The new film will premiere on Disney Channel on July 16 and will be available to stream on Disney+ the following day.

In this chapter, Red and Chloe return to face a new threat after their previous time-traveling exploits. They have hidden a dangerous pocket watch inside the Royal Vault to keep it safe, but Maddox Hatter, played by Leonardo Nam in an expanded role, emerges as a villain seeking the watch. After Maddox captures the Queen of Hearts, Red and Chloe must join forces with new allies to rescue the Queen and prevent Wonderland’s destruction. Kylie Cantrall and Malia Baker reprise their roles as Red and Chloe, respectively, while Rita Ora, Brandy, Melanie Paxson, and Paolo Montalban also return to their prior Descendants characters. Additionally, Awkwafina joins the cast, lending her voice to Chessy the Cat. The official soundtrack for Descendants: Wicked Wonderland will be released by Walt Disney Records on July 17.

Awkwafina, a rapper and actress with 24 film and TV credits to her name, is known for her breakout role in Crazy Rich Asians and her acclaimed performance in Farewell, The, which earned her multiple award nominations including a Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice nods. She has also appeared in projects like Girl Code, Regular Show, and Ocean's 8, establishing herself as a versatile entertainer.
