AceShowbiz - Carín León and Xavi have scored a major hit with their song "La Morrita," which recently climbed to No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart dated March 14. This achievement comes shortly after the track also reached the top spot on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart on February 28, marking a significant milestone for the duo in 2026’s music scene.
Carín León expressed his excitement about the success, saying, "Very excited and proud to see that this huapango is reaching the top of the charts. This proves that regional Mexican music is more alive than ever, and what better way to do it than with my buddy, Xavi, one of the young talents who is representing our music with great strength."
"La Morrita," released on January 9 through Island/Socios Music, made a leap from No. 3 to No. 1 on the Latin Airplay chart thanks to a 22% increase in weekly audience impressions. According to Luminate data, the tune garnered 8.6 million impressions across 152 Latin radio stations in the United States during the tracking week of February 27 to March 5. This performance dethroned "Lokita Por Mí" by Romeo Santos and Prince Royce, which had held the No. 1 spot for three non-consecutive weeks.
For Xavi, this marks his fourth No. 1 on the Latin Airplay chart, adding to his previous success with "No Capea," a collaboration with Grupo Frontera that held the top position for one week in February. Meanwhile, Carín León celebrates his sixth chart-topping song after previously reaching No. 1 with both pop and regional Mexican versions of Maná’s "Vivir Sin Aire" in September.
Beyond the Latin Airplay achievement, "La Morrita" continues its reign on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart, securing a second consecutive week at No. 1. It is the third song in 2026 to maintain a two-week run at the summit, joining hits like La Arrolladora Banda El Limón and Juanes’ "Una Noche Contigo" and Grupo Frontera’s "Monterrey," both of which also enjoyed two-week stretches earlier this year.
In addition, "La Morrita" reached a peak position of No. 15 on the Hot Regional Mexican Songs chart. This ranking takes into account a combination of streaming activity, radio airplay, and digital sales, demonstrating the track’s broad appeal across multiple platforms.
The ongoing success of "La Morrita" underscores the vitality of regional Mexican music and highlights Carín León and Xavi as influential figures pushing the genre forward in 2026.
